Ballet IV- Ages 11-14 Ballet is the foundation of all dance forms. Classes begin at the barre where students perform movement sequences to develop strength, coordination, balance and proper alignment. These skills are reinforced through center and across the floor combinations. Classical technique and vocabulary are taught. Technique from Ballet III is built upon in this level.
Lyrical- Combines elements of the leaps and turns of Jazz with ballet technique and storytelling. Students are encouraged to show emotion through their movements and facial expressions.
Jazz-A form of dance that showcases a dancer's individual style and originality. Every jazz dancer interprets and executes moves and steps in their own way. This type of dancing is energetic and fun, consisting of unique moves, fancy footwork, big leaps and quick turns.
Hip-Hop- Breaking, Popping, Locking, Isolations, Freestyle, Grooves, and combinations are taught in this upbeat class. Some of our Hip-Hop classes introduce students to Break Dancing.
Acro- Our acro program focuses on tumbling, contortion/flexibility,strength training, and dance transitions. Students will work on Walkovers, Handsprings, Int./Adv. Contortion, Partner acro tricks, Aerials, Tucks and more as they advance through each skill. Students individual levels and needs are addressed.
Tap- Tap dance is a form of dance characterized by using the sounds of tap shoes striking the floor as a form of percussion. Two major variations on tap dance exist: rhythm (jazz) tap and Broadway tap.
Musical Theatre is a jazz-based class filled with Broadway style dancing and music. This style is great for students who have an interest in performing in plays and theatre as they get older.
Modern-Modern dance is a highly expressive style of dance that challenges the structured dance technique of classical ballet. The focus of modern dance is expression, rather than following a rigid set of postures or technical positions that ballet dancers are trained in. Modern dance movements are considered freeform and fluid, and are often inspired by other dance styles
